Vegan Challenge Award Winners!

TCBC took home an award last month for winning the most rave reviews during the first ever Vegan Chef Challenge in Kalamazoo! This month long event in May, which has parallel events in other cities around the country, was the first for Kalamazoo. Over a dozen Kalamazoo area restaurants featured crafted Vegan dishes the entire month. Hungry Vegan and non-Vegans alike were able to taste through dishes all month long, and then vote for their favorites. Texas Corners Brewing Company brought the heat with a beer battered asparagus, black bean burger, and peanut butter chocolate brownie as their Vegan options for the month.

Ruth Schultz, Owner-Operator and Kitchen Manager, said “It was fun to come up with something new and see people enjoy it. Cooking Vegan isn’t something we do every day, so it was great to hear all of the positive feedback. It’s definitely something we will do more of in the future!” Lauren Kurt, the volunteer organizer of the event for Kalamazoo, said she plans to host the event again next year in 2024. The full story summarizing the event and voting results can be found on MLive here.
