Cheers to 10 years!
In March of 2015, we opened our doors at the “TCBC” brewpub with the dream of bringing from scratch, farm-to-table food, craft beer, and hard cider crafted from apples grown in our family’s orchards.
Ten years is a momentous milestone for any small business. Restaurants and breweries are notorious for facing challenges. We believe our strong, local, growing community and dedicated family ownership has made this possible. This year we will celebrate with the release of our 10th anniversary ale – a Double IPA version of our flagship Three Brothers IPA AND a 10th anniversary cider aged in rum barrels. Both will be on draft starting, Monday, March 24, the day after our official anniversary.
10 years in, we have been excited & honored to continue bringing handcrafted food, beer, cider & wine to Texas Corners, Kalamazoo, and the surrounding area. Thank you for your patronage and allowing us to continue supporting our own family farm and other local farmers and suppliers from around Michigan. We look forward to growing our legacy!

The following is a brief timeline of major milestones in the history of TCBC!
February 2013
Denise Schultz saw “the church” building for sale on her way home from a dentist appointment. After talking about making hard cider for years, her and Bill leapt at the chance to buy the historic 100-year-old church in Texas Corners for the purposes of a tasting room. When people drink, they also like to eat, so the idea snowballed quickly into a full-fledged brewpub with beer, cider, and a full kitchen.
2013-2015
The Schultz Family renovated “the church” including the addition of a 700 sq. ft. kitchen space and remodeling the entire inside. At the time of purchase, the building had been vacant for two years. An outbuilding (the original intended brewery) was hit by a car, so the brewing operation was moved to the farm in Mattawan.
March 23, 2015
We opened our doors to the public for the first time! We did not even have alcohol on day one, just food. Our beer license showed up later that same week and we started with P-51 Porter, Fruitridge Wheat, and three ciders. We consider this our official anniversary as it was our first day open to the public.
July 2015
We open our outdoor patio, doubling the size and seating of the brewpub in the summer months.
March 2016
We celebrate our first year in business by partnering with a local, mobile bottler to package our first anniversary beer in 22 oz. “bomber” bottles. This is the start of us brewing a unique, one-time-only beer for each subsequent anniversary.
March 2017
We partner with Fenn Valley Winery to start canning our hard ciders in 16 oz. cans. The ciders crafted from apples grown on our third-generation family fruit farm in Mattawan was the original inspiration for starting TCBC.
2015-2024
We experience steady growth (minus the pandemic). When we opened, we were the fifth sit-down restaurant in Texas Corners. At present, there are now eleven.
December 2023
We finalized the purchase of Lawton Ridge Winery (LRW) from Dean Bender & Crick Haltom - a 17-month lengthy process. Founded in 2008, this local winery is well known for food friendly wines crafted from the estate wine vineyard in Lawton that was planted in 1974. The previous owners were looking to retire and find new owners who treasured local agriculture and believed in quality and craftsmanship. We now operate the tasting room on Stadium Drive and sell our LRW wines at TCBC and the family farm market in Mattawan.
March 23, 2025
We are officially open to the public for a decade! We are focusing on supporting other local producers through food and drink, growing our wine portfolio, and exploring the addition of spirits and cocktails at the pub soon!
