The Schultz Family Acquires Lawton Ridge Winery
After a year of work behind the scenes, the Schultz family, which owns and operates Texas Corners Brewing Company in Kalamazoo, and Schultz Fruitridge Farms in Mattawan, has acquired Lawton Ridge Winery of Kalamazoo. With deep family roots in agriculture - farming fruit and vegetables since 1951 - and opening a brewpub and restaurant in Texas Corners in 2015 - the opportunity to add wine crafted from locally grown grapes was a natural fit. Previous owners were seeking retirement and were glad to find someone with focus on quality and a love for the land and agricultural bounty that Michigan can produce. It was mutually agreed to be a good fit for the next chapter of Lawton Ridge Winery, which has been making wines from grapes grown in nearby Lawton since 2008.
